Gavin Harlien Striving for Success at the World-Famous 2016 Chili Bowl Nationals

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January, 11 2016 (Tulsa, Oklahoma) – Gavin Harlien, professional off road truck racer & X-Games Athlete, is attempting to defy all odds at the world-famous 30th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals this week in Tulsa Oklahoma. Harlien will be competing as #11K and has again teamed up with the legendary Cory Kruseman to be coached under the watchful eye of one of the most experienced figures in the sport.

For this event, Gavin has worked hard to thoroughly prepare for the Chili Bowl, racing 410 sprints and midgets throughout the year. In addition, regular testing with Kruseman has this well rounded driver excited and ready for success.

His first Chili Bowl National event was last year, also with the Cory Kruseman team. Gavin was quite surprised when he arrived at the Chili Bowl race last January. “I cannot believe I have not been too or raced in such a massive event. Lucas Oil and its partners put on such a well run and organized race. The size, really is very impressive.” Gavin went on to say that the Chili Bowl could be compared to the scope of a Super-Cross event with the best of the best in midget racing competing on the world stage.

Gavin will be competing against 335 drivers this year from 24 different states and 5 different countries including Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, the world’s largest indoor race is on course to set driver and team records. This week long event has a bracket style racing format. The better you do the farther you go, and yes the talent gets much better as well.

Last year was Harlien’s first time actually racing a midget ever. He spent several weekends training at the Cory Kruseman Driving School in Ventura, CA. for preparation. Now despite the initial lack of midget racing experience, Gavin did well considering 95% of the drivers at this event race in a midget all year long. He finished 3rd, 10th, 9th, and 12th (in the F main event). Finishing better than 200+ drivers over the race week was a huge accomplishment for his first midget race. “I was just happy to be here” says Gavin. I got to hang out with Tony Stewart (NASCAR Champion), race against Kyle Larson (NASCAR Driver), and Ricky Stenhouse Jr (NASCAR Driver) what beats that”?

Just being invited to race the Chili Bowl is an accomplishment, according to many who are never given the chance to race such a prestigious event. Gavin represented Lucas Oil, MAV TV, GoPro, Mickey Thompson Tires, Ultra Wheels, Smith Optics and many other companies in his 2015 campaign. Now in 2016, Harlien has a much clearer perception of how the event and race pace goes and is looking to better his finish from last year. Getting to the A Feature is Gavin’s main objective. Lucas Oil and the whole team behind this event, put on a production like no other. The drivers in the A Feature are introduced and enter through a lit inflatable tunnel under flashing lights from thousand of cameras and the roar of the crowd. The scene can only be described as Gladiators entering the Colosseum for battle.

Follow the weeks event on to stay up to date on Gavin’s quest for the A feature. Gavin will be driving for Lucas Oil TV, Mickey Thompson Tires, and Ultra Wheels this year and hopes to bring his supporters much success.
